Hyderabad: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is in the thick of action these days. The maker who eats, breathes, lives and dreams cinema is directing film after film, akin to what Dasari Narayana Rao did in his heydays. Although, Varma didn’t have a release for more than five months, he has wrapped up two projects – ‘Spot’ and ‘365 Days’, and is giving touches to Sachiin Joshi-starrer ‘Mental’ and has commenced ‘Golusu’ (working title) with Manchu Manoj last week.

Points out a source, “Both ‘Spot’ and ‘365 Days’ have been wrapped up recently. While the former, which will throw light on the reasons and planning behind the murder of faction leader Obul Reddy was completed over a period of 60 days; the latter, a drama about a couple who rush into marriage, was wrapped up in flat one week. ‘365 Days’ is Varma’s quickest work behind ‘Dongala Mutha’ and ‘Ice Cream’.”

The source adds, “Manchu Manoj-starrer ‘Golusu’ will fall in Varma’s familiar territory – the mafia. Even before the shoot flagged off last week, he had shot some portions long ago. It is a love story set and is sure to unleash the actor in Manoj who will be portrayed in a rustic look. C Kalyan is the producer.”

That’s not it! Varma who shot films with Canon 5D cameras and introduced flow cam technology in the past, we hear, is also keen to make a film with iPhone this year. “He has always believed in revolutionising filmmaking and help aspiring makers realise their dreams without the support of big names,” the source added.
