Even after finishing a week at box office, Kalyan Ram's latest movie 'Pataas' and debutant Anil Ravipudi's direction hasn't lost sheen. Theatres are running with packed crowds and box offices are over flowing with collections. Maybe its time to see what are the positives that worked in favour of this commercial entertainer.

1) Anil Ravipudi:

Director Anil Ravipudi's vision of carving a commercial scene-based flick on the skeleton of regular story line clicked big time. While the story sounds simple, he etched every scene with renewed energy and stuffed with comedy. He used superficial elements for generating fun including flying-mothers and bhagadvita singing ambulances. His narration and screenplay techniques clicked quite big time.

2) Kalyan Ram:

All these days, Kalyan is not toning his acting prowess to the range of the characters he is playing. Always he is loud and dialogues are larger than life. But in Pataas, he toned everything to a normal hero and that clicked well. Though his character plays all the hero with artificial elements, the toning down made it believable.

3) Three Comedy Episodes:

The entire 801 ambulance comedy episode where the Bhagvadgita lyric 'Parthaya' comes as a backgrounds score made audiences bump out of seats. And then, the mothers-beating-sons episode in second half has made a 10 minute non-stop laugh riot. Also Srinivas Reddy's character as 'Reddy' created laughs in almost all the scenes.

There are minuses like heroine, poor logics, ineffective father sentiment and simple villainy but as Anil Ravipudi tried to narrate them in a new theme and instant-kick based styled, the positives hijacked the negatives.
