Actress Samanta criticized the Government’s decision to ban the telecast of BBC documentary on December 16 gangrape in India.
Several Bollywood celebrities termed the Centre’s decision as “ostrich mentality”. On Friday, Samantha took to Twitter and commented ” One who believes in the validity of their own beliefs should and does welcome dissent. At best, they engage with it. At worst, ignore it.
Ideally, they learn from it either way. #indiasdaughter. World’s largest democracy with a pitiful identity crisis.” The Government banned the documentary in India a few days after the BBC granted permission to air it.
Actor Siddarth also said “A film about rape in the US military- yes. About rape in the Catholic Church-yes. A film about rape in India – BAN! #Indiasdaughter #DARKAGES.”
“Please watch the documentary! Sad, disturbing.. But true. We need to change our mind set. I support BBC documentary ‘ India’s daughter’. But why was this cruel bloody psychotic rapist and his mcp lawyer given a platform to even explain himself?,” actress Shriya Seran said.
