Will It Roar ?
Strengths
*The two young heroes, Sundeep Kishan and Rahul Ravindra are a major asset since both have mellowed and matured since their debut roughly five years ago in cinema.
*The film is being directed by Vi Anand, widely held to have been mentored by none other than the Ghajini director AR Murugadoss. Anand generated a lot of buzz last year when he debuted as a director in Tamil with Apuchi Gramam. Many thought he was gutsy to have chosen a a sci-fi film as his launch film.
*The film is believed to have very high production values, and at one time when Anand was keen on making it in Tamil, even Fox Star Studios, known for backing small films with strong storylines, had reportedly shown an interest.
*The film has been shot extensively in Varanasi, a city that is always fascinating to people not only in India but also abroad.
*It is said to be inspired by a real life incident, always a safe ingredient in cooking up an interesting story.
*Thaman’s music is a major plus these days.
*Seerat Kapoor is the heroine, and quite a good choice at that.
*It is about friendship in a commercial format, and could work on any given day at the box office.
WEAKNESS
*The film was originally conceived for Kollywood, where the audience taste is quite different from Tollywood movie buffs.
*Story set in Varanasi may not always hook the Telugu audience since the local ‘connect’ may be missing.
*It is the time of the year when holiday hangover is gone and everyone gets back to life, so release timing may not be the best.
*The director is new to Tollywood audiences is yet to carve a niche as a magnetic maker, so one cannot expect a gravitational pull towards his film.
OPPORTUNITY
*A good time pass film will always work. Look at how Pandaga Chesuko is still holding its head up decently at the box office.
*The director has roped in two young heroes , and if the story is well told, quite a few youngsters who see a mirror image of themselves in those two, would like them to succeed and give a thumbs-up to the film.
THREAT
*As is the trend during these weeks, the weather could play a spoil sport.
*Jadoogadu , another film in the same category is also releasing and could give Tiger a hard chase. Where is Vidya Balan , a crime comedy could end up being criminally funny, stealing away the audience.
