Mahesh Babu's Srimanthudu has been declared the second highest grossing Telugu film ever after Baahubali. Already, competition to grab Srimanthudu's Hindi remake rights has intensified and a leading Bollywood production house is said to be in talks with the Telugu producers.
Yet another buzz is that the said Bollywood production company is trying hard to convince the macho hero Salman Khan to reprise Mahesh's role in the Hindi version but Salman is yet to give his nod. It is well known that Salman's last few box-office hits were mostly remakes of Telugu and a couple of Tamil films. Going by his affinity towards Telugu hits, fans are hoping that Salman will okay Srimanthudu's remake eventually.
In a way, Srimanthudu is a perfect film for Salman's changing image of a 'good boy' and is perfectly in line with his Being Human initiative. The film's noble plot of a rich NRI coming down to India and adopting a village has all the ingredients to sky rocket Salman's image. Already, Salman earned a lot of goodwill for Bajarangi Bhaijaan and with Srimanthudu remake will only consolidate it.
