Priyanka chopra has etched a name for herself as one of the most promising performer of Bollywood today. She has done such varied roles from model in Fashion to a built boxer in Mary Kom and just a dance number in Ram Leela and now in December she would be Kashibai in Bajirao Mathani. What many are shocked about is why is she playing Kashibai, a role that is only a supporting character in the main plot of love between Baji Rao and Masthani played by Ranveer and Deepika?
Her answer is straight and short that she was the first pick in the movie and is doing this only for one man, that is the director and producer of the movie Sanjay Leela Bhansali. 'Sanjay walked to me with the script and was very sure that only I should do this role.'she said. Bajirao Masthani has been Sanjay Leela Bhasali's dream project from the last 12 years. What was supposed be made with Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachan in the lead roles, finally took shape in 2015 with Ranveer and Deepika.
Priyanka says Kashibai is a very intense and heart breaking role. 'It was hard for me to do it as I had to talk the Maharashtrian accent correctly, wear the 9 yard saree (Nuvari) and as it is it's a very feminine and challenging role for me to do.' Priyanka says. She further said that it was hard for her to get out of the character and she used to take along the emotions of her character from the sets to her home which is very unusual of her. 'This is a very special movie to me' PC stated.
