An arrest warrant was issued against Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) for allegedly using offensive and unpleasant language against Dera Sacha Saudha head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
A senior police official said that a case was registered against Varma following a complaint by Dera head follower on February 22nd. The case was filed under the section 66 of IT Act by the Supreme Court on March 24th.
The police have also booked him under section 298(Uttering words to hurt religious sentiments) of IPC. The police officials claimed that Ram Gopal Varma tweeted about Ram Rahim’s movie MSG: The Messenger on February 13th.
Jatinder Singh said “After registering FIR against the accused, we had sent him notice on March 25, on his Mumbai address but we were told Varma no longer lives at that address and has moved to Hyderabad. If he doesn’t take the notice, we will initiate legal process for getting warrants against him”.
