In Tollywood or any film industry for that matter, it is very tough for an outsider to get a chance as a hero.
The privilege is usually reserved for those from filmi families. So we have the mega, Nandamuri, Akkineni and other families turn into hero supplying houses for the industry.
It does not matter if they are ugly. A hundred lip surgeries, nose jobs, jaw surgeries etc and the caste crazy fans (fanatics)are more than happy to welcome them. But the point anyway is that these families apart from having the top actors in the industry control the theatres as well. So, that is two aspects of the trade they control.
Now, a trend has emerged where the syndicate is slowly inching towards monopolizing production of big movies.
Ram Charan will be producing the 150th movie of Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan will be producing the next movie of Ram Charan.
Kalyan Ram is trying to produce the 100th movie of Balakrishna. Venkatesh as we all know is a completely desi product of ‘Suresh Productions’.
So, by making movies where one from the family turns producer and the other acts in it, the whole thing becomes a table- profit exercise.
Why does Ram Charan need to produce Chiranjeevi’s movie and why does Kalyan Ram need to produce Balayya’s movie? Can the opportunity not be given to other producers with a genuine passion for cinema?
However, one thing is clear. If these guys are looking for a good profit, then they would have to cut down on their bizarre remunerations and not ask for all kinds of fancy things on locations. Otherwise, it is their family that will suffer for it is a family production.
