Ace director Puri Jagannadh, who turned distributor with his film Temper, has paid a hefty price if trade reports are anything to go by. Puri has lost a bomb as the movie failed to rake in moolah in West Godavari where Puri distributed the film. According to unit sources, Puri Jagannadh has bought the distribution rights of Temper of West Godavari from Bandla Ganesh for Rs 2.25 Crore. But the film managed to collect only Rs 1.5 Crore share incurring over Rs 75 Lakh loss to Puri. Including theatre rents, cost of Suresh productions through home Puri distributed, Puri has lost nearly Rs 1 Crore. Going by the present trend, it's unlikely that Puri would recover the balance amount.

Even writer Vakkantam Vamsi, who bought the distribution rights of Nellore region, suffered losses. "No doubt, NTR has stardom and could pull crowds to theatres. As the film released in non-season ahead of Cricket World Cup and non-holiday season, it affected its collections. Had the film released in January as planned before, the situation today would have been otherwise," shared a senior film distributor.

However, the case is a bit different in other parts. NTR-Kajal starrer Temper did well in Nizam, overseas. On whole, Temper raked in Rs 40 Crore share globally ending up as a loss venture to most of distributors. The only winner is producer Bandla Ganesh who laughed all the way to bank and garnered profits by selling the film in advance.
