Radhika Apte shot to fame in short time in Tollywood with her extended cameos in Raktha Charitra and Legend and has hogged the limelight with her controversial comments on the industry. More than her roles, the actress has become an overnight star with her shocking comments about the Telugu film industry. In a recent interview, Radhika stated that Tollywood is ‘unbearable’ and she has struggled a lot in Telugu as the industry is male-dominated, male-chauvinistic and patriarchal in nature.
Apparently, her comments have irked Telugu film fans and some of them took to micro blogging sites to slam her for generalizing the entire industry, after doing just a few films. Producer Sai Korrapati, the producer of Legend, reacted to the controversy and stated that Radhika was given proper treatment on the sets and she was also given extra remuneration for her impressive performance over and above the original payment she was offered.
Radhika’s upcoming Telugu actioner Lion, also featuring Balakrishna, is in the making and is scheduled for May 1 release. Directed by debutant Satya Deva, the film will see her as one of the leading ladies. Satya Deva was surprised as to what made Radhika say those words about Tollywood. He explained that she was treated in a professional way during the shoot and was clueless on why she was so harsh on our industry. A few filmmakers are insisting Movie Artist Association (MAA) to ban her till she tenders an apology for her derogatory comments.
