It was only couple of days ago that we reported about Malli Masthan Babu, the ace mountaineer from Nellore who went missing while climbing the Andes Mountain Region in Argentina, South America. Unfortunately, reports are coming in from the South American authorities which are confirming the death of Malli.
Ever since he went missing on 24th March, huge rescue operations have been carried out to retrieve him. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu arranged for Malli's sister, Dorasanamma visit to Argentina to oversee the rescue operations and even the Ministry of External Affairs has been in regular contact with the Argentinean authorities. Sadly, none of their efforts could save Malli.
An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, Masthan Babu achieved the rare record of the world's fastest seven summiteers, when he climbed the seven summits in 172 days in 2006. Masthan was also the first person from Andhra Pradesh to scale Mount Everest. Rescue authorities predict worse climatic conditions for Masthan Babu's death during his climb on the Andes Mountains.
