Suriya has completed his work for Venkat Prabhu’s Masss and gone to Mumbai to shoot for Vikram Kumar’s 24.
Sources close to the Unit of Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming Suriya-Nayantara-Pranitha starrer Masss say that the film’s title might undergo a change in the coming days. This is Suriya’s first film with Venkat Prabhu, who directed 'Biriyani' with his younger brother actor Karthi in 2013.
Billed as a comic horror venture, Masss has been in the making for the past many months. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music of the film which has Parthiban, Premgi Amaren, Samuthirakani, Karunas, Sriman, Sanjay Bharathi and Riyaz Khan in its cast. It is informed that though the title is catchy enough, it might undergo a change as only films with pure Tamil titles qualify for exemption from entertainment tax. But an another section of gossip mongers claim that the film will not be eligible for tax exemption as it wont be certified U since it is a horror film.
Of late, horror films have become the order of the day in Kollywood. Suriya is said to have himself taken on the ‘avatar’ of a ghost in one of his roles in the film. Nayantara gets paired up opposite Suriya for the third time after Ghajini and Aadhavan while Pranitha gets her first film opposite him.
Neither Venkat Prabhu nor Suriya had made any official announcement about the film’s title, but great interest has been built around the fate of Masss’s title. Looks like Suriya is clouded by title controversies right now, with both 24 and Masss kaning news due to their respective titles.
Venkat Pabhu is said to have presented the script in an admirable manner. It was earlier announced that the film would be hitting the screens on 01st May, but the latest is that this horror flick is gearing up for a release on 15th May. With just under a month to go for the film’s release, it remains to be seen as to what title he settles with!
