Time and again, film industry keeps shouting that "reviews" are spoiling the chances of a flick, but audiences do prove that they don't mind reviews if the film really gets a positive mouth talk. Latest to join that bandwagon in "S/o Satyamurthy", which was taken down by critics by being a slow commercial drama, but connected to audiences like anything.
After a week of run at box office, Allu Arjun's latest movie under Trivikram's direction, "S/o Satyamurthy" has collected nearly 58 crores gross i.e., 38 crores share. It took nearly 2+ weeks for many '3' star rated films to amass this much money, but S/o Satyamurthy despite rated between 2 to 2.75 stars has done it all. Did critics judged the film wrong? Or audiences accepted the film with a mighty heart?
Needless to say, somewhere the judgement given by review writers has taken a backseat if we have to ready anything by collections. This is a tricky and interesting situation, where review writers got hurt as their expectations didn't met, while audiences felt happy as a star hero fed them with simple meals but with numerous curries (read ensemble star cast). Film critics, in the advent of Attarintiki Daredi and Race Gurram being the last outings Trivikram and Bunny, has expected a big higher, but audiences are watching S/o Satyamurthy with empty mind. That's where the film's collections started aggregating to a high.
On a hungry stomach, a simple Pappu and Potato Fry will be awesome, mouth watering and eternal in taste. You don't need biryanis then. Probably that explains why audiences got connected to S/o Satyamurthy and how Trivikram succeeded in guessing that. Film critics however expect biryanis always, by nature, they are critics know.
Also we can explain in it this way- Critics are investors who are after more profits, while audiences are like daily wage workers, who work and want to get paid good. That's an ideological differences folks!!
