Getting Inspired?
Movie buffs’ fascination for their favourite flicks doesn’t stop at just one thing. They are just obsessed with everything and anything related. Posters are one of those prime pulling factors of the celluloid world. Even in this internet driven era posters haven’t lost their impact. This is evident from the first look posters bustling all over ahead of any movie’s release. One such poster that released before May Day has taken social media by storm. SS Rajamouli has released the monumental flick Baahubali’s first look poster on his social networking page. The intriguing look of kid held in a hand above the ocean bed has pulled everybody’s attention. From fans to industry stalwarts all are raving about it. Some even went to the extent of saying it as Tollywood’s answer to Hollywood. Check it out below:
The question that arises is whether the poster is original or Rajamouli is “inspired” by any Hollywood poster? A look at the Hollywood film Simon Birch’s poster that was released in 1998 makes anyone get similar doubts. Others claim that the poster was inspired by Nepal’s earthquake pic in which a four month old kid was unearthed from rubble. Other section of fans have gone too far and linked it to mythology where Lord Krishna was carried by his father to cross an ocean. However, fans have shrugged them off saying Baahubali has nothing to do with Simon Birch, since it’s a periodic battle drama while the latter is of social genre.
Tollywood lovers are hailing it for attempt to break the barriers as who would put a infant’s still on a first look poster of such an extravagant film. But still the question remains, do we still have a long way to go?
