Prakash Sahu is in famous in both the Telugu states for his robberies in Temples. He was recently arrested by Vijaywada Police for a robbery at the Sai Baba temple at Prasadampadu. Prakash had looted over 47 Hindu and Jain temples in AP, Telangana and other neighbouring states since 1980. His robberies also include the crown of Goddess Kanaka Durga’s idol in AP’s second largest temple, the Sri Durgamalleswara Swami temple, atop Indrakeeladri in 1988.
Sahu’s wife is pursuing a course in law at Bhilai in Madhya Pradesh and his children go to a public school in their hometown. It is said that he is seriously funding his wife’s law studies so that she can help him with his cases. Sahu also have a habit of praying before the idol before looting.
There were also reports that he stole ornaments worth crores from other temples of neighbouring states too. The Police are in the process of making him admit all the robberies he committed. Sahu was arrested earlier and was released in 2008 but he still refused to mend his ways.
