Renowned Tollywood producer may lose the promised honorary president post of Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce

Hyderabad: The general body meeting of Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce opposed special post to Dil Raju as its honorary president since it could create a parallel power centre to the newly-elected president of the chamber Ram Mohan Rao.

If the discussions in the recent general body meeting are anything to go by, noted producer-exhibitor-distributor Dil Raju may not be bestowed with the honorary president post for Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce in near future, since some members strongly opposed to the appointment.

“It’s true that some members opposed this appointment since they expressed apprehensions about creating parallel power centre, and also members felt that it would not be possible to create special post overnight and we need to discuss more,” admits producer Sangisetty Dasaratha, who attended the meeting.

Actually, a month ago, a group of members of Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce pestered producer Dil Raju to take over the president post and even assured to make it unanimous, but Raju’s rivals brought in another producer Ram Mohan Rao and made it a contest.

When Dil Raju was annoyed, members promised that he would be made ‘honorary president’ as a compromise formula. Meanwhile, top exhibitors Ram Mohan Rao, Murali Mohan and Satyanarayana were elected unopposed as the president, general secretary and treasurer respectively.

But the first general body meeting of the newly-elected committee didn't ratify the decision to create a new post. So the ball is in the court of upcoming executive committee meeting. “We'll discuss in our executive committee meeting whether to amend the bye-law or to offer him a chief advisory role, so nothing has been finalised yet,” adds Dasaratha.
