In yet another Bollywood Shocker, Mahmood Farooqui, the writer and co-director of Aamir Khan produced Peepli Live, has been arrested by the Delhi Police on rape charges. The director reportedly raped a 35 year old American national on the 28th of March. A case has been filed on 19th June and the police finally managed to arrest the director and produced him in the court.
The Saket Court has sent Farooqui to judicial remand until the 6th of July. The director is facing sexual abuse charges against the American lady who is a PhD scholar at the reputed Columbia University. The lady was on some research work when the abuse took place. A case under the IPC section 376 has been filed against Farooqui.
Mahmood Farooqui is the husband of Anusha Rizvi, who co-wrote and co-directed Peepli Live along with Farooqui. Produced by Bollywood star Aamir Khan, Peepli Live is a dark, satirical tale of farmers' conditions in a remote Indian village and launches a scathing attack on the ridiculous Indian media. The film was a runaway hit when it was released in 2010.
