Ali needs no introduction in both the Telugu States and he is like a household name in every Telugu home. But this fame didn’t stop the Rajahmundry police from insulting Ali and stopping him from going inside to attend the ‘Nandi Naatakotsavam’.
Severely hurt and feeling insulted, Ali got into heated argument with the police who didn’t allow him even then. When Ali tried go back to Hyderabad, the organisers had to intervene, cool him down and take him on to the stage. By then Ali’s irritation went to peaks and vented his anger on stage during his speech.
He explained how he took pains to come to Rajahmundry by road when he had no way to come by flight. He forsake his remuneration of Rs.2 Lakh per day to attend the programme but this is the treatment meted out to him in his native place Rajahmundry. True, Ali’s anger and hurt is justified.
