Never before has such frenzy been witnessed from fans. Interestingly, it was not-just-the-typical-front-benchers kind of people who waited anxiously. A considerable number of blue-collared employees, including software techies and executives, were a part of this phenomenon. The services of uniformed police were hastily requisitioned to see that no untoward incident like a stampede occurred.
“We opened our counters at 9 a.m. and within an hour, our server crashed. Within that time, we issued about 7,000 tickets. By the end of the day, between 12,000 and 15,000 tickets were sold, including online sale. I have never seen so much pressure for tickets,” said Prasads Multiplex general manager, Tarimela Srikanth. With 30 shows on six screens, including the IMAX screen, Prasads Multiplex has a capacity of 2,358 seats per show Interestingly, the police personnel trying to control the burgeoning crowds were seen trying to get the attention of Prasads Multiplex employees and on the sly, trying to get tickets for any show on the release day, for themselves, their families, as did employees of television channels who were on duty, covering the rush of people. The situation was pretty much the same at several other multiplexes. Practically everybody who knew somebody, made frantic calls for tickets. And interestingly, those working in the multiplexes and who were in a position to block seats, simply declined all but the most important of calls.
