Whenever there is an uproar on any issue connecting it to the moral image of the country, government is soon to step in and impose ‘BAN’ to safeguard the dignity of the country. Recently we have seen government imposing ban on many issues pertaining to movies, AIB Roast, ban on beef, foreigners in parties and the latest ban on ‘Indias’s daughter’ documentary.
These bans in India are now made into jokes by world media and questioning the rationale behind banning the above said issues. For example, take the ban on the movie ’50 Shades of Grey’. The movie was banned because of the extreme erotic content but ironically there is no ban on porn in the country where everyone seems to have taken up the responsibility of moral policing.
The world media says that the latest one, ban on ‘India’s Daughter’ has actually added to the curiosity and that is the reason the documentary went viral. It seems like the world is making fun of conservative India, but it isn’t actually. It wants our government to hear how silly are the bans turning out into and creating more curiosity they otherwise would have created without the ban.
