Temper is number 1: what's the secret?

Temper the film starring Jr NTR is doing exactly what it was supposed to do which is to carry on its run without any fuss at the box office. The film has now slowly but steadily crossed Gopala Gopala by small margin to become the number one grosser of the year so far.

Temper without any doubt is the most liked and best reviewed film of the year so far. However it hasn’t exactly set the box office on fire that many attribute to the ongoing world cup and the dull season. Despite those odds the film is still continuing to show shares in main centers across the state even in its fourth week, a feat that has been achieved by only handful of films in past few years. Why is the film showing such strong legs and what is the secret of the success?

Now let’s go back couple of years and remember Mirchi. Even that film released during the same time and it showed strong legs and become the highest grosser in Prabhas’s career. The common thing between both the films is that whatever may be the talk of the films, it most certainly was positive, they had the time to settle and grow as they literally had no competition. This is something that was a regular sight a decade ago, films having steady run as word of mouth spreads. Remember here films at least have to be decent in the first place for the word of mouth to work, which both Mirchi and Temper were.

So we have decent films with positive talks having a star hero and no competition in sight for weeks together. Well isn’t that a recipe for a sweet success. This is exactly what had happened to Mirchi and to a lesser extent to Temper, the latter lacked universal appeal due to the content and execution. Still Temper is going to be a clean hit and be the highest grosser of the year for sometime till it’s taken over. It once again proves the saying that there are no dull seasons for a star, there are only good films and bad films.
