* Court quashes O Kalyan's petition
* Counting to be taken up on Wednesday afternoon
* Results to be out by evening
The decks are cleared for the counting of votes for the election to the Movie Artistes Association (MAA).
The Namplay city civil court on Wednesday struck off a petition by actor O Kalyan, who challenged the election held on March 29. O.Kalyan approached court citing discrepancies in the MAA polls. He also demanded that MAA ex-president Muralimohan present the accounts of the expenditure incurred.
The court, which heard all arguments, quashed the petition. It also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 O Kalyan for wasting the time of the court. Despite the acrimony, MAA elections were conducted peacefully, where 394 out of 702 voted.
Now the counting is likely to start on Wednesday afternoon and the results are expected by evening. Popular comic hero Rajendraprasad panel and the panel led by actress Jayasudha contested the acrimonious elections.
