was very impressed with Mythri, as it has a lot of values and messages. There have been speculations that I'll be doing the remake, but nothing has been finalised yet,” posted Nagarjuna on his Facebook page in mid-March. However, it looks like the Superstar has finally made up his mind to feature in the Telugu remake of the Kannada hit.
A source close to Annapurna Studios points out, “Nag is likely to play the role that was essayed by Puneeth Raj Kumar in the original. Nobody fits the role better than him. He might produce the flick in association with another partner.”Starring Mohan Lal, Puneeth Raj Kumar and Archana Veda in the lead roles, ‘Mythri’ narrated the tale of a young slum dweller who makes it big on Kotyadhipathi quiz programme, the Kananda version of Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Puneeth. Released last month in Karnataka, the film has been declared a super hit.
The source adds, “GK, who has been associated with Nag for decades, is tipped to direct the flick while actor Srikanth’s son Roshan, who is making his debut as a child artiste in ‘Rudhramadevi’, is expected to play the boy. Hunt is on for an established actor to play the role enacted by Mohan Lal. The project is expected to go on to floors once Nag wraps up his film with PVP.”It is worth mentioning that Nag has abstained from starring in remakes for a long time. ‘Snehamante Idera' (2001), a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Friends’, was the last remake that he starred in.
