The particular song "Iraniyan Nadagam" is based on the rift between Prahlad and Hiranyakashipu and it could hurt Hindu sentiments. "The lyrics of the song will upset followers of Lord Vishnu. It belittles the conversation between Prahaad and Hiranyakashipu. Hence, we demand a ban on the film," saod K.L Sathiyamoorthy, a member of VHP. The movie is about an 8th century theatre artist and a modern-day superstar. Utamma vIllan was initially slated for release in May 2014 , but was postponed. Veteran Director late K. Balchander will also play a vital role in the movie.
