Famous spiritual guru Kandukuri Sivananda Murthy passed away on Wednesday. Mr Sivananda breathed his last in the wee hours following severe health complications. Sivananda Murthy was 87-year-old. Murthy is survived by his son- filmmaker Raj Kandukuri. Murthy had been staying in Bheemili of Visakhaptnam until few days ago but was recently shifted to Warangal upon his request.  None other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi had telephoned Sivananda and his son few days ago to know the former's health condition and wished him for his speedy recovery. Modi also tweeted about him.

Dr Sivananda Murthy was well-known Satguru and has several followers across the globe including top political leaders like Prime Minister Modi, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana CM KCR. He had set up several trusts and promoted Hindu culture and customs. He had built two ashrams one at Warangal and the other at Bheemli near Visakhapatnam. In recognition of his services, Sivananda Murthy was awarded honorary doctorate by the Andhra University. PM Narendra Modi, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana CM KCR and several top leaders, bureaucrats conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
